Elon’s Doyle overcoming challenges in multiple ways at Palmetto Amateur
Matthew Doyle can remember having one phone call that was vastly different than the others he was taking during the college recruitment process. The school, the academics, the campus, the golf program itself – all typical topics of conversation as a coach tries to lure a player to a program.
The talk Doyle had with University of Oregon head coach Casey Martin didn’t check any of those boxes. All they talked about were their hips.

Local golfer’s dream comes true at Palmetto Amateur
The Palmetto Amateur has a record of bringing young talent to Aiken. Occasionally, some of those golfers live just minutes away from the Palmetto Golf Club, like Colt Ingram who lives in Aiken but went to school in Augusta. For the first time, Ingram is playing in the Palmetto Amateur.

Vanderbilt’s Chase Nevins finishes birdie-birdie to win wild 49th Palmetto Amateur
Chase Nevins had gotten sick of the way he was playing golf this week at the 49th Palmetto Amateur. Nevins, a rising sophomore at Vanderbilt who was making his first appearance at Palmetto Golf Club, couldn’t get comfortable with the golf course through his first 44 holes and wasn’t playing his typical kind of game.
